The blue table

There is a round blue table
Which follows me around

And appears when I least expect it!
Small and squat

And painted iconic Greek blue,
She is warm and inviting

And her legs are uneven
Threatening spillage at the most awkward of times

As she attempts to straddle uneven paths and balconies.
But never mind, ‘tis a mere bagatelle

For she is like an old friend
And I am always so happy to see her

As I greet her fondly…
And sit beside her smiling quietly to myself.

For simplicity is the key

To this little blue table

...which follows me everywhere!

Familiar views with different hues

Familiar views with different hues

Softer hues brought about by the passage of time...

When the sun sits low in a cool spring sky.

These familiar views whisper of a gentility

Of gelati and pastels

And sitting amidst pearls and cream.

It’s a familiar view but with dove-greys skies

... and washed-ink seas

Where the two meld in a surreal flourish

As if painted by unseen hands.

It's familiar views with softened hues

Where the line between art and reality is undefined

And time stands still

Luring me to a place of peace...

Awe...

Solitude...

Serenity...

And escape!

The art of the terracotta pot!

They are mere vessels for something grander...

Aged and unkempt lurking behind doors...

They cluster in uncluttered ways...

Always appealing ...

Filling corners to perfection...

Stark...

Dramatic...

Occasionally a little worse for wear...

The art of the terracotta pot...

is simply beautiful!

Where the wild things grow

They always find a way,
A way to make their presence felt.

They push through
They climb
They clamber

They hang
They hover

Like a mischievous child peering through the safety of parental legs
At first shy and reticent...

Until noticed...
And then it's all bravado

Reaching, stretching, creeping
Demanding attention.

Amazingly, they know how to show their very best
Know what frames them perfectly

Know just when to twist and turn and cascade
Creating patterns and colours designers can only dream of

Adding beauty to the drabbest of corners
Like a silent artist

They create masterpieces
Unexpected and seldom appreciated

Except by the few who stop and look
And savour these corners of the world

Corners of the world...

where the wild things grow!

Cherry Blossom in Spring

Under a Yoshino Cherry tree I sit in the park
Waiting for the first sign of spring
For a touch of pink to burst forth from a gnarled winter
For a glimpse of Crabapple, Dogwood, Cherry and Magnolia perfection

She arrives in a cloak of blossom buds
Blinding me with her intensity...

Her bravado...

Her light.

For she leaves nothing to the imagination
Dressed to thrill

Dressed to kill, every hint of green
As she takes over in her gentle, delicate ways.

I am consumed by her beauty
Mesmerised by her audacity

Enamoured by her lusciousness
And speechless at her structure

She is alluring
Beckoning me beneath

Laying down her petal carpet
Inviting me to rest soporifically on her pink eiderdown

I am shrouded in her hues of love...
Hot, Light, Deep, Baby

Champagne, Tickle Me, China

Tango, New York, Mountbatten

and Cherry blossom...

Pink!
