Touches of red here and there breathe of life...
...like feeding strays on a lack lustre day
And lilies framed by Aegean blue.
Of the day’s catch pegged out to dry
And of shutters against a Mediterranean sun...
...and balconies with views into tomorrow…
It sighs as it frames a Venetian knock at the door
And sits majestically against a Minoan pot...
whilst perfectly plump tomatoes beckon in the sun.
Red reflects a tether of fishing boats...
as it highlights my days
like vapour trails in a cloudless sky.

Oh I love this post. And I have to tell you, I've been toying with the idea of doing one about the reds of Greece! I can't believe our minds are of the same persuasion here. . .I couldn't help but notice how the red stood out against the Cyclades blue and white. Beautiful job as always and I love the phrase 'with views out into tomorrow'!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Jackie - I have often thought how alike we are in thought and word! Please write your post about the reds of Greece - would love to see your perspective on a place we both love so much. Have a wonderful week F xx
DeleteFrannie, this is so nostalgic to me. We have all had these simple moments...the ones we should enjoy and often let slip away in the mad rush of life. How lovely of you to remind us. Simply splendid, my friend. xx's
