The hues of the earth

... reflect a tranquility and calm...

...strut around with noisy abandon...

...are cheap...

... a labour of love...

... whittled into a dying art form ...

... ride the crest of silent waves...

... create surprises around every corner

...provide welcome relief under the shade of ancient olive trees...

... ring in the days of the week

... are even found under the sea

... and contained in pots of time.

Such are the hues of the earth
Found all around us in glorious colour.

A touch of red

Touches of red here and there breathe of life...

...like feeding strays on a lack lustre day

And lilies framed by Aegean blue.

Of the day’s catch pegged out to dry

And of shutters against a Mediterranean sun...

...and balconies with views into tomorrow…

It sighs as it frames a Venetian knock at the door

And sits majestically against a Minoan pot...

whilst perfectly plump tomatoes beckon in the sun.

Red reflects a tether of fishing boats...

as it highlights my days

like vapour trails in a cloudless sky.

A Scotland Island affair

A Scotland Island affair

is a warm touch of red amongst the trees

An al fresco lunch under dappled light

A repast symphony of Mediterranean olives ....

....chilled wines and minted water

Blushing mango cheeks ...

Exotic salads boasting the colours of the rainbow ....

.... and bowls of luscious berries.

Locals drop in from time to time ....

just to add a little colour!

And at day's end, it's a quick trip back to the mainland.

A Scotland Island affair

is always an affair to remember!

Red tables and chairs

The harsh Cretan sun forces her way through the rough rattan roof
hastily hoisted as a pretense of shade

Her dappled light reflects through, bouncing off stone floors and walls
and pristine-white tablecloths ....

.... creating shadows on shadows on shadows is her daily form

 and inside or outside,
this dappled delight is a favourite cool retreat

at any one of the many red tables and red chairs.
