Spring is in the air....

Spring is in the air...

Time to dust off the cobwebs...

Open our sleepy eyes...

Come out of hibernation...

And face the warming sun and grow some more!

A Chatter of Daisies

A chatter of daisies heralds the spring
Their pert, sun-kissed faces beaming amidst the green

"The daisies are here"

"The daisies are here"
chorus the bees

As they flit from baby bud to baby bud

Then onto the brazen teens - beaming and open to all that pass

(And shamelessly unafraid of the cheeky breezes ruffling their petticoats)

Before settling amongst the faded stars

Their golden domes proudly standing on wilting skirts

A cloak of delicate mauve shrugs the bed

Happiness…

...is spring!

A sassy spring picnic

The first day of spring sees a Middle Eastern breakfast on the beach.

Under dappled light...

a bevvy of bamboo brollies...

gently shade a feast...

...of strawberries warmed by the sun

...haloumi grilled on an open flame

 ...pitta bread ready for filling

...and lovingly home-made Koftas.

Chilled lemon, lime and soda quenches the thirst...

As we celebrate the beautiful Sas.

Three cheers for spring!

Cherry Blossom in Spring

Under a Yoshino Cherry tree I sit in the park
Waiting for the first sign of spring
For a touch of pink to burst forth from a gnarled winter
For a glimpse of Crabapple, Dogwood, Cherry and Magnolia perfection

She arrives in a cloak of blossom buds
Blinding me with her intensity...

Her bravado...

Her light.

For she leaves nothing to the imagination
Dressed to thrill

Dressed to kill, every hint of green
As she takes over in her gentle, delicate ways.

I am consumed by her beauty
Mesmerised by her audacity

Enamoured by her lusciousness
And speechless at her structure

She is alluring
Beckoning me beneath

Laying down her petal carpet
Inviting me to rest soporifically on her pink eiderdown

I am shrouded in her hues of love...
Hot, Light, Deep, Baby

Champagne, Tickle Me, China

Tango, New York, Mountbatten

and Cherry blossom...

Pink!
